The brief
Gated estates rarely have a single security problem; they have three. Vehicles arriving that should not, people arriving on foot that the gatehouse cannot verify, and incidents in shared spaces — parking, walkways, the perimeter — that go unattributed because nobody is watching at the moment it happens. The estate wanted all three closed down without turning the entrance into a checkpoint that queues residents every evening.
What we installed
- ANPR cameras at the gatehouse reading entry and exit plates against a resident and approved-visitor list, with automatic barrier release for known vehicles.
- Automatic hydraulic barriers and fixed bollards to control vehicle flow at the entrance.
- Bullet cameras along the perimeter wall and dome cameras in shared parking and walkway areas.
- Access control with smart card and RFID readers for pedestrian gates, plus mobile-based credentials so residents can authorise a visitor from their phone.
- Centralised management software giving the gatehouse and the estate manager full audit trails.
Living with the system
The estate manager can now pull the history of a single plate, a single credential or a single gate in seconds. That is the difference between a residents' meeting spent debating what happened and one spent agreeing what to do about it. Audit trails also protect the gatehouse staff, who carry the blame when an incident cannot be reconstructed.
Handover and support
End-to-end support is standard on every deployment — consultation, installation and maintenance. Gatehouse staff were trained on daily operation, and the management team on reporting and user administration.
