Our security team has completed an IP Megapixel surveillance rollout at Kitegela Subcounty Hospital, covering the outpatient wing, pharmacy, records office, main gates and the site perimeter.
The brief
A subcounty facility carries the same security pressures as a referral hospital on a tighter envelope. The areas that most need monitoring — the pharmacy store, the records office, the cashier point and the casualty entrance — sit alongside spaces where patients expect privacy. The hospital also needed a system that worked with the network it already had, rather than one that demanded a fresh infrastructure budget.
What we installed
- Bullet cameras on the perimeter run and at both gates, where the field of view is fixed and predictable and weather sealing matters more than aesthetics.
- Dome cameras along the outpatient corridors and at the cashier point — tamper-resistant and discreet enough not to dominate a clinical space.
- Multi-sensor cameras at the main entrance, giving wide 180° coverage from a single mounting point instead of three separate housings.
- PTZ cameras over the parking area for live tracking during busy clinic days.
- Centralised recording on the hospital's existing network infrastructure, with viewing stations for the administration office and the gatehouse.
Working around a live facility
None of this could happen at the cost of a closed clinic. Cable runs were done in sections and out of hours, containment and dust control were used in every clinical area we passed through, and no consulting room was taken out of service. Pharmacy and records coverage — the areas the hospital was most concerned about — were commissioned first so they were live while the rest of the site was still being finished.
Handover and training
End-to-end support is part of every deployment we do. The facilities team was trained on live viewing, playback and export procedure, and we came back for a follow-up session once staff had lived with the system for a few weeks and knew the questions they wanted answered.
